England is a Civil War and Burnt Stub is a royalist stronghold which is raised to the ground by Cromwell's forces
17th Century
Burnt Stub becomes a wayside alehouse
18/19th Century
The farmstead is rebuilt on a grander scale
1931
Reginald Goddard purchases the land from the Vere Barker family and opens Chessington Zoo
1945
By 1945 Chessington Zoo has expanded to include a funfair, circus and miniature railway
1946
Regionald Goddard dies and Zoo is taken over by Pearsons
1978
Chessington Zoo becomes part of the Tussauds Group
1981
Planning for the transformation of Chessington Zoo begins
1987
Prince Edward opens Chessington World of Adventures theme park with Dragons Falls, Calamity Conyon and the 5th Dimension and Circusworld
1990
The UK's first ever hanging roller coaster; The Vampire, is built at Chessington
1998
New for 1998 was The Rattlesnake a mine themed Wild Mouse coaster, Creepy Caves a walkthrough featuring creepy animals, Fun City Show and Pizza Hut, KFC and McDonalds restaurants.
1999
Samurai arrived at the park and Fun City Show was removed after only one year to allow the construction of Beanoland to begin.
2000
New land Beanoland opens with Billys Whizzer, Rodger to Dodger Dodgems and Stunt show.
2002
Forbidden Tomb becomes Tomb Blaster. Gun's are added to the seats on each train and the ride becomes an interactive laser mission. New in Beanoland is Dennis' Madhouse a ball blasting fun-house for little ones. The Vampire also re-opens featuring floorless trains and a lower height restriction.
2003
Burnt Stub becomes home to Hocus Pocus Hall, a 3-D adventure featuring Jink the mischievous goblin
2004
Land of the Dragons opens along with new rides Dragons Fury, Griffin's Galleon, Sea Dragons, Canopy Capers and the Dragons Playhouse. Also this year The Samurai had been removed and placed at Thorpe Park.
2005
Peaking Heights opens located in Mystic East, the ride was previously located at Thorpe Park under the name of Eclipse but suffered from not being to popular with Thorpe Park's new thrill seeking guests.
This year the rocks around Dragon Falls were also removed making the area much more open although not quite as nice looking.
